One fleece, one place.
1 Material

One fleece, one place.

High Atlas fleece that winters at altitude, hand-spun, kept in its natural tone or taken to a quiet dye, then woven flat, pick by pick, into a low graphic cloth.

Woven in Taznakht.
2 Hand

Woven in Taznakht.

Several weavers work one loom together. Every row is beaten down and combed before the next begins.

Flat, and it stays flat.
3 Care

Flat, and it stays flat.

No pile to crush, a tight flatweave takes daily traffic and lies reversible. Vacuum gently, no chemicals.

Living with it

The first months, and the years after
01

It sheds, then it stops.

A new hand-knotted pile releases loose fibre for two to three months. That is cut wool finding its way out, not the rug coming apart. Vacuum without a beater bar and it settles.

02

It smells of wool, briefly.

Weeks folded in transit concentrate the lanolin. Air it flat for two or three days and it goes. Every rug is washed and sun-dried in Ouarzazate before it ships, which is why it is faint to begin with. If a rug smells of chemicals, it is not one of ours.

03

Moths want dark and still.

They go for wool left undisturbed under furniture, not for a rug you walk on. Vacuum both sides twice a year, rotate it, and lift it when the room moves. We treat nothing with insecticide. Use is the defence.

04

The colour stays where it is.

Every dyed lot is rinsed in Ouarzazate until the water runs clear, before the rug leaves. Blot a spill from the edge in, and never soak it.
