Living with it

Hand-wash in warm water with a soft cloth, and skip the microwave. Fine crazing, the web of hairline lines that shows up in the glaze over the years, is what old glaze does. It is not a fault.

Shipping & breakage

Each piece is wrapped by hand and double-boxed, then shipped insured and tracked from Marrakech. If anything arrives damaged, send one photograph and we replace it, no questions, no return needed.

Why no two bowls match

Close, never identical. The wall is pulled by hand and the pattern is painted freehand, so the arches sit a little differently on every bowl. Put two side by side and you will see it.

01The making

Earth, and a brush.

Earthenware dug from the plain outside Marrakech. The pattern is not a transfer laid on top, it is brushed on and fired into the glaze.

The gesture, not the object: the wall rising under two hands on the wheel (4s silent loop)

Macro: the painted arches alone, filling the frame, where the brush lifts

The arches painted by hand, Marrakech, 2026

Thrown

On the wheel, never a mould, so no two walls are the same thickness.

Painted

Freehand, arch by arch, on an ivory ground. Lead-free and food safe.

Fired

Twice in the kiln: once for the clay, once to set the painting under the glaze.

03Time

Ten days, two firings.

Most of those ten days are waiting. Clay that is rushed to the next step cracks.

Day 01

Thrown on the wheel from one morning’s clay, then set aside to firm up.

Day 02

Leather-hard: the foot is trimmed on the wheel, by the same hand.

Day 04

First firing, then the pattern painted on by hand, color by color.

Day 07

Glazed clear over the pattern, wiped clean at the foot, then fired a second time.

Day 10

Out of the kiln, checked for a true rim, then wrapped by hand.

Next

Wrapped by hand, and out through the door to your table.

Before: as found, unwashed, Boujad market
As found, unwashed, Boujad, March 2026
After: washed and sun-dried, same frame, same light
Washed and sun-dried, Ouarzazate, April 2026
The bowl lived in: a real table, salad served from it, the glaze marked by use

“Rug is even more beautiful in person. The quality and pile of the rug are so much more luxurious than the pictures show. It can be a gamble ordering a textile, sight unseen, but not in this case. I am so impressed, I'm already searching for other rugs for my home.”

“Fantastic! This rug is so special. The colours and pattern are gorgeous, it’s so thick and plush. Super comfortable to sit on, lie on, it brings my room together so well. I’d been lusting after a Benisouk rug for so long, I’m so glad to finally have one in my home.”

A table is rarely finished in one order, the serving pieces are painted by the same hand.
