How our Moroccan rugs are made

  • WHO WOVE THIS GORGEOUS CREATION?

This Art Rug is created by an Artist from the Beni M'rirt tribe, a region of the Middle Atlas, M'rirt is the second largest city in the province of Khenifra.

WHY CHOOSE A MRIRT LUXURY RUG?

The most important criterion that measure the pedigree of a luxury rug are the quality of the fibres and the weaving process.

The Mrirt rug is woven in prestigious New Zealand wool, a pure and extra virgin wool. Pure extra virgin wool refers to hair obtained from a sheep or lamb that has never been spun into yarn or processed. It represents only 5% of the world's wool production and is considered the pinnacle of wool in terms of quality. It is not only a natural fibre that offers comfort and warmth, but it is also naturally fire-resistant, stain-resistant and sound-insulating.

The luxury Mrirt rug is woven only by the most accomplished artisans who are custodian to rare ancestral weaving and knotting techniques that take longer to perform compared to other Berber rugs. This method is rare because it is very difficult to master but is necessary to give the luxury Mrirt rugs their high density of rich wool.

WHY SHOULD YOU INVEST IN A HAND-CRAFTED MOROCCAN RUG?

Apart from the unmatched aesthetic appearance, anyone buying a machine-made rug  quickly discovers that it will not last very long and therefore will have to buy another one quickly. So, start saving money now and buy a handmade Moroccan Rug that will last for decades and pass it on to your children.

Besides, machine-made carpets all look the same. You will never find a rug that looks like a handmade rug. Your handmade Berber rug will be like no other in the world.

HOW DOES A MOROCCAN RUG FEELS WHEN YOU TOUCH IT?

Your tiny feet will love this warm and soft wool handmade rug. You will experience an immediate feeling of well-being.

WHY DO HANDMADE RUGS SOMETIMES HAVE IMPERFECTIONS?

The imperfections of handmade rugs give it character and charm and increase its value. From unusual borders, color fading, imperfect shapes, each rug is unique.

Any decorator or designer will recognize an authentic Moroccan Rug and be amazed by its splendor.

WHAT IS THE BEST STYLE TO GO WITH A MOROCCAN RUG?

WHY YOU NEED ART IN YOUR HOME?

Our homes are the sanctuary in which we unwind, relax, sleep, dream and reflect. Our home is also the sanctuary for our family, our possessions and all we hold dear. We often project our passions and aspirations onto our treasured crafts and allow them to act as talismans for our pleasures, our dreams, our plans and our relationships. Like old friends or a favourite piece of music, works of art energize a room and bring life within its four walls.

This elegant wool rug is a multi-sensory works of art which you can admire at a distance or snuggle in its tenderness. It gives warmth and comfort to tired feet, rekindles old memories and provides an epicenter for the creation of new dreams. Our exquisite Moroccan rugs are an incredible treasure which have been crafted using ancient techniques, passed down from mother to daughter, time immemorial.

WHY IS SUPPORTING CRAFTSMANSHIP A WISE ECOLOGICAL MOVE?

Now you support a sustainable, eco-friendly industry. Our rugs  are 100% organic, made of wool and dyed with vegetable dyes. These materials have been used in carpeting for centuries and have proven their longevity and biodegradability.

IS THE HANDMADE MOROCCAN RUG DURABLE?

100 % natural Moroccan rug withstands the years and many washes. Since wool naturally contains a lot of lanolin oil, washing will bring out even more of the oil in the fiber and the rug  will become even more beautiful over the years. Use a mild detergent when washing.

    HOW ARE THE ARTISANS PAID?

We maintain a long-lasting relationship with our skilled artisan partners. The artisans are fairly remunerated and also benefit from subsidies that allow them to achieve financial and personal fulfilment. We are committed to human and labor rights.

Moreover, 15% of the profits are reinvested in the development of rural communities.

  • Basic care:

Natural raw wool may contain small fibers during weaving. Over time, these threads/fibers will rise to the surface - they can be lightly sucked out. No need to panic - fiber loss is normal with new wool rugs and will fade over time.

    Stain treatment:

For long-lasting maintenance, use a vacuum cleaner. If the stain has been caused by a liquid, you must act quickly to prevent drying - use paper towels to absorb and then shampoo to clean. When in doubt, professional dry cleaning will always remain your best choice.

  • How our Moroccan rugs are made

We provide the most beautiful creations of Moroccan craftsmen inheritors of a long history and keepers of a tradition and a culture. Works of art where the artisan, the material and the craft tool have the primordial place.
