Weavers work side by side across the width. Every row is beaten down and combed before the next one starts.
Then washed and sun-dried in Ouarzazate, where the dry air settles the wool without any treatment. It is the slowest part of the making, and the one that sets how the pile falls.
The pile flattens underfoot for the first months, then springs back fuller. Vacuum gently, no chemicals.

Nothing sits in a warehouse. The loom is set the week your order arrives, and your piece is numbered in our atelier register. You can follow it, step by step, until it reaches your door.

Technical sheet
Reference ILY · taznakht. Every figure was taken from this design, not from a range.
A new hand-knotted pile releases loose fibre for two to three months. That is cut wool finding its way out, not the rug coming apart. Vacuum without a beater bar and it settles.
Weeks folded in transit concentrate the lanolin. Air it flat for two or three days and it goes. Every rug is washed and sun-dried in Ouarzazate before it ships, which is why it is faint to begin with. If a rug smells of chemicals, it is not one of ours.
They go for wool left undisturbed under furniture, not for a rug you walk on. Vacuum both sides twice a year, rotate it, and lift it when the room moves. We treat nothing with insecticide. Use is the defence.
Every dyed lot is rinsed in Ouarzazate until the water runs clear, before the rug leaves. Blot a spill from the edge in, and never soak it.
It leaves our floor within two business days and reaches you in 5 to 10 days, insured and tracked.
Not this one. It exists once, at the size shown. The same design can be woven to your size in 10 to 12 weeks, at the same per-square-foot rate.
Yes, because it ships from stock. You have 14 days from delivery to send it back if it is not right for the room.
Vacuum gently without a beater bar, rotate once or twice a year, and have it professionally washed every few years. No chemicals — the wool’s lanolin does most of the work. A care kit ships with every rug.
Taznakht colour is dyed in small lots, so tones shift slightly batch to batch — that variation is the hand of the piece. Order a swatch to see the true colour in your own light before you commit.
“Gorgeous Rug! The rug I ordered—a 6.5 x 9.5 Beni Ourain rug—is GORGEOUS. It exceeded all my expectations. First off, the packaging was incredible. I was worried about tears in the package, seeing as it traveled here from the other side of the world, but the packaging was so secure (double wrapped!) that the rug was in pristine condition. I was also surprised by the adorable Moroccan pouch that was included! Such a nice touch. As for the rug itself, it is simply stunning. It is plush and soft, the perfect size for my space, and a beautiful neutral color. The quality is amazing; the craftsmanship (or should I say craftswomanship?) is evident. I also love that I am helping support a treasured Berber tradition. Highly recommend!”
“Rug is even more beautiful in person. The quality and pile of the rug are so much more luxurious than the pictures show. It can be a gamble ordering a textile, sight unseen, but not in this case. I am so impressed, I'm already searching for other rugs for my home.”
“Fantastic! This rug is so special. The colours and pattern are gorgeous, it’s so thick and plush. Super comfortable to sit on, lie on, it brings my room together so well. I’d been lusting after a Benisouk rug for so long, I’m so glad to finally have one in my home.”
